Brian Cook was born December 4, 1980 in Lincoln, Illinois to Joyce and Norman Cook. He played his high school basketball at Lincoln High School where he earned Illinois Mr. Basketball honors. Cook went on to play four seasons for the University of Illinois where he played 132 games. While at Illinois, Cook earned numerous accolades including Big Ten Player of the Year, the Chicago Tribune Silver Basketball Award, and Second-Team All-American as voted on by the Sporting News. Following college, Cook entered the 2003 NBA Draft where he was selected in the first round, 24th overall, by the Los Angeles Lakers. Cook spent 4 and a half seasons in LA before being traded to the Orlando Magic in November of 2007. After a year and a half in Orlando, Cook was recently dealt to the Houston Rockets in a 3-team trade prior to the 2009 NBA trading deadline. He is enjoying his time in Houston and looking forward to his 4th trip to the NBA Playoffs.
